The CD-i, or Compact Disc Interactive, is not a single video game but rather a multimedia platform developed and marketed by Philips Electronics, which was released in 1991. It aimed to provide a versatile home entertainment system that could play games, educational software, and multimedia titles. Although positioned to capitalize on the burgeoning interest in interactive media, the CD-i platform is often criticized for its lack of high-quality gaming content and sluggish performance. It did, however, gain cult status for some unique titles, including entries in the 'Zelda' series that are not officially recognized by Nintendo.
