Thunder Force II - Genesis

Thunder Force II is a side-scrolling shoot 'em up game released by Technosoft for the Sega Genesis in 1989. It's a hybrid of top-down and horizontal scrolling levels, where players pilot a futuristic spacecraft called the FIRE LEO-02 Exceliza. The game alternates between free-roaming overhead stages, where players have to destroy enemy bases, and more linear side-scrolling levels with intense bullet-dodging action. Upgrades and weapons are collected to boost the ship's firepower. The game is known for its challenging gameplay and was one of the earlier titles that showcased the Genesis's capabilities.
