Splatterhouse is a horror-themed beat'em up video game developed by Namco. Originally released in 1988 for arcades, it was later ported to the NEC TurboGrafx-16 in 1990. Players take on the role of Rick, a parapsychology student trapped in a mansion while searching for his girlfriend. After donning a mysterious mask, Rick gains superhuman abilities and battles grotesque monsters and supernatural forces in his quest to rescue his girlfriend. The game is known for its gruesome visuals and was one of the first games to receive a parental advisory warning due to its violent content.
