Omega Race is a classic arcade game released in 1981, which was later ported to the ColecoVision console. Developed by Midway, this game belongs to the multi-directional shooter genre and is known for its vector graphics. In Omega Race, players pilot a ship, designated as the Omegan Space Fighter, tasked with eliminating enemy droid ships within a rectangular battlefield bordered by invisible force fields. This game stands out for its fast-paced gameplay and was one of the few to offer a vector-based arcade experience, which at the time represented a tech-forward approach, delivering a unique visual aesthetic.
