Manhunt is a controversial stealth-based survival horror video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It was released for the Xbox in 2003. The game places players in the role of James Earl Cash, a death row prisoner forced to participate in a series of snuff films for a sadistic director named Lionel Starkweather. The gameplay involves hiding in shadows, executing enemies silently, and using a variety of weapons. Its dark, gritty atmosphere and explicit violence stirred much discussion upon release. The game is remembered for challenging the limits of video game content.
