Donkey Kong was a classic arcade game released in 1981, and the black cartridge version for the Colecovision was one of the home console adaptations. As one of the earliest platformers, the game features Mario, who would later become Nintendo's mascot, attempting to rescue Pauline from the titular character, Donkey Kong. Its success laid the groundwork for platformers as a genre. It retains its charm with simple, yet engaging gameplay challenging players to navigate through a series of platforms while dodging obstacles.
