Centipede is a classic fixed shooter arcade game developed by Atari and released in 1980. The player must battle through fields of mushrooms, aiming to shoot a centipede advancing from the top of the screen down to the player area through a field of mushrooms. The player can move in all four directions and shoot the centipede sections, while also dealing with other enemies like spiders, scorpions, and fleas that each have unique movement patterns and effects on the field. The Colecovision version of the game was ported and released a few years later, offering home gamers the chance to experience the arcade action in the comfort of their own homes.
