Centipede is an arcade-style fixed shooter game released for the Atari 2600 in 1982. Developed by Atari, Inc., it is a home adaptation of the popular 1980 arcade game. In this classic title, players maneuver a small ship, referred to as the Bug Blaster, at the bottom of the screen, firing upwards at a descending centipede along with spiders, scorpions, and fleas. The centipede segments turn into mushrooms when shot, creating obstacles on the playfield. The goal is to survive as long as possible and score high points in a fast-paced, insect-blasting frenzy.
