Starblade is an on-rails space combat simulator originally released as an arcade game by Namco in 1991. The game was later ported to the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer console in 1994. The gameplay consists of shooting down enemy fighters and avoiding obstacles, featuring pre-rendered 3D graphics and a fixed-path movement system that gives a feel of flying through space. Starblade's genre is primarily a rail shooter and the game is noted for its cinematic style and pioneering real-time 3D polygonal graphics.
