Frequency is a rhythm-based video game for the Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2). Released in 2001, it is classified under the music genre. In the game, players navigate a virtual tunnel while hitting notes in time with the music, intuitively arranged in tracks that represent different instruments. Each level comprises a song performed by a popular artist for players to remix. Travelling down the tracks and successfully hitting notes increases the score and fills the 'Frequency' meter. If the meter depletes, the game is over. An innovative concept in its time, Frequency paved the way for many future rhythm games.
